A few months ago, Kinley started having bad dreams. She'd wake up in the middle of the night too afraid to go back to sleep. Needless to say, we lost many hours of sleep over this. The bad dreams usually happened as a result of her watching, for example, the ghost episode on The Suite Life of Zach and Cody or "The Ghost of Captain Red Boots" on the Backyardigans-- it was immediately clear that T.V. was the culprit.
She and I both started filtering the shows she watched remembering that watching scary shows resulted in having bad dreams. The problem subsided for a short while.
Then one night, Kinley was avoiding bed time way more than usual. She told me it was because she was afraid she'd have another bad dream.
That night when we said our prayers we asked God to keep away the bad dreams, and...He did!!!
We have prayed that same (or a slightly varied) prayer to keep away the bad dreams every night since then with the exception of 2 nights. One of those nights, she fell asleep early and the other I think we just forgot. Those 2 nights have been the only nights Kinley has had a bad dream since we began praying for God to protect her little head from scary thoughts. What a testament to God's faithfulness.
A few weeks ago at church Kinley's verse was, "God always keeps His promises." I don't remember which scripture that actually came from but the point is that Kinley learned it and believes it!
It is such a blessing for me to see Kinley's faith in Jesus grow at such an early age. She relies on Him for protection through the night and when she asks, He always comes through.
Thank you Jesus!

What peace that must bring you, knowing she is sleeping peacefully now. God is so cool....
I LOVE this! Glad she is enjoying her rest now and hopefully dreaming of sleeping on marshmallows- that's what she said she wanted heaven to be like, right? So sweet!
